SASSA Does NOT offer Loans – Don’t Get Scammed

If you are visiting this page, you have probably searched “does SASSA give loans?”, “SASSA loan application”, “apply for SASSA loan” or a similar search term.

The aim of this page is to let you know that unfortunately SASSA does NOT offer loans.

Each month, SASSA pays out grants to millions of residents in South Africa, who then use this money to pay for their most essential expenses. Even so, the grant money seldom stretches to the end of the month.

Does SASSA offer loans?

This question has been asked many times, and it has been confirmed on the official SASSA social media platforms, that SASSA does NOT offer loans (such as electricity, airtime, personal loans or pre-payment of grants).

Unfortunately, their are many scammers who prey on SASSA recipients and try get them to fall victim, by pretending to offer loans. Do NOT become a victim – stay away from these imposters!

What can I do if I already applied for a SASSA loan (been scammed)?

If you have been a victim of applying for “SASSA loans” (you probably gave them your ID number, cellphone number and SASSA card number), then you should report the matter to your nearest SASSA office or call their customer care dare department on 0800 601 011 as soon as possible.

Are there any ways to get an advance on your social grant?

If you receive your grant via TymeBank, you can get paid a portion of your grant early with their “Grant Advance”.
