SASSA SRD R350 Grant – When and How will it be Paid

Who is the SASSA SRD Grant for?

The SRD (Social Relief of Distress) grant is aimed at South African citizens, asylum seekers, refugees, and special permit holders between the ages of 18 and 60 years old. These individuals must have insufficient funds and must not receive any other social grant, not be eligible for UIF funding, or not have any other form of financial support.

When will the SRD grant be paid?

Candidates who receive the SRD grant from SASSA and choose to be paid via the cash payment method might find themselves not having a payment date. If you or someone you know experienced this, visit the SASSA SRD website where you will be provided with a payment date.

Often, this mishap is due to a failure of your mobile number verification. The mobile number that you registered with SASSA to receive the SMS for the cash payment method must be registered in your name. This is for security reasons as SASSA will not pay the funds to a mobile number registered by another person.

How can I get my SRD grant paid into my bank account?

Recipients of the SRD grant must also provide their banking details, as their grant will not be processed or paid should they submit someone else’s details. If you are the beneficiary, you must ensure the banking details are your own so that the grant is paid directly to you and that fraudulent activities are avoided.

If you have received payment dates on your status, but have not received your SASSA voucher, you must contact your chosen bank. You can also contact your chosen bank if you have accidentally deleted your voucher message from your mobile phone- the bank will then resend you the voucher on behalf of SASSA.
